09 Feb Spring arrives early to Catalonia!
The first almond trees are blooming! And the Mimosa trees also!!! Spring has arrived!
This is the perfect time to do an excursion to the Priorat wine district, to spoil yourself with amazing food in the little family run village restaurants, divine wines, and the most picturesque landscape. The medieval villages, the vineyards climbing the harsh and steep terrain and those pink clouds of almond trees in bloom … the views here are breathtaking!
From Sitges/ Vilanova you drive to Priorat in less than 1 hour. The final 30 minutes you will need to slow down, as you pass along a scenic mountain road. The neighboring wine district, Montsant, is also well worth a visit. It is more or less surrounding Priorat, so you will cross the border many times as you explore the area. As in Priorat the landscape is breathtaking and you will find that there is so much to be discovered! You can not miss the village of Siurana, high up on a cliff!
I will write more about this area since I love to come here all year around.
The charming village of La Torroja del Priorat, an evening in February.
